The State of NAMBA (high level snapshot) - (DD)
NAMBA has had much success with the new rules committee that is cleaning up
old rules and going through the rule book page by page. In doing this there was
many things in there that needed to be deleted or re written to current
standards. If not a racing rule we DD’s vote on these each month at our Monthly
DD call.
NAMBA District Directors monthly call. I can say this has really opened the eyes
of every director and the communication flow is way better than ever before. I
proposed this back in 2022 to Richard and he appointed Eric & Kelly Canto from
District 3 to conduct the meetings and I take my hat off to both. The meetings
are organized and flows extremely well and get a lot completed in the hour-long
meeting. All District directors, as the NAMBA VP Karl Loveless attends each
month.

Proposed Rule by: Robert Holland
Buoy Infraction Penalties. FOR D-20 ONLY—Not for National Rules.
Remove 1 lap penalty rule and impose points for buoy infractions. You never lose position only points off you total for that heat.
Did Not Finish(es) due to infraction of another racer who is then DQ’d ............... Shall receive next place points after boats that finish are scored. Any buoy infractions incurred by the racer who was disabled to be deducted. Maximum of 225 points awarded. Can be awarded 169, 127, 96 depending on other boats finish.
Buoy Infractions 1. Cutting inside of any buoy at any time a boat is under power shall incur a penalty of 50 points per buoy cut, to be deducted from the point score. 2. Cut Course. Driving through the center of the course, or cutting inside without touching a complete set of buoys, i.e. 1-2-3, or 4-5-6, cutting three buoys of a five-buoys turn, or cutting/ striking a single offshore buoy will constitute a cut course, and will incur a penalty of one lap, including milling prior to start of heat. (Point penalties do not apply when all three or five buoys are cut on one end at the same time. That is a lap penalty.) 3. Penalty points will never exceed the finish place points accrued during a heat. (No negative final score awarded) 4. Buoy infractions shall be called by the Referee and his decision shall be final. No racer may advance his position by a cut buoy(s).
